I'm gonna summarize their bio a little. Second cousins - Jay DeMarcus, and Gary (Vernon) LeVox <3
- are from Columbus, Ohio. Gary and Jay would sing in the honky-tonks in Nashville trying to get Gary a record deal.
Jay was also working as band leader of country singer Chely Wright's band. There he met Joe Don Rooney, and asked him
to fill in for him and Gary's guitar player one night. Joe Don, Jay, and Gary got a record deal with Lyric Street Records
and were still unnamed. They were gonna go ahead with the name Oklahio, but a friend of theirs had a better idea.
He had a garage band in the '60s called Rascal Flatts, and that's how Rascal Flatts got their name.
Their debut CD was self-titled and included hits such as - Prayin for Daylight; Everyday Love; While You Loved Me; and
I'm Movin' On.
I'm Movin' On was a powerful song that touched many hearts across the nation. It gave them a big break to become
something big.
Their second CD, titled 'Melt', produced the #1 hit 'These Days'. It also gave them the singles, Melt; Mayberry,
and Love You Out Loud. With the 'Melt' album came controversy and popularity.

I will always remember the "Rooney Butt Shot"
They put out a live CD/DVD two pack from Daytona Beach CMT Special. Their first major TV concert special.
In 2004, they put out 'Feels Like Today' . . . The big one . . .
The hits, Feels Like Today, Bless the Broken Road, Fast Cars and Freedom, and Skin (Sarabeth) came off that CD
Their biggest song ever, Bless the Broken Road, spent 6 weeks in 2005 at #1 . . . it was nominated for 2 Grammy's and
several ACM and CMA awards.
I've gotta take a breather . . . Rascal Flatts is on my TV as I write this . . . CMT just loves them!!!!
Ok, where was I?
Fast Cars and Freedom spent 2 weeks at #1 . . . a fun song that reminds me of summer, just having fun in the sun!!!!
Skin (Sarabeth) reached #2 on the Billboard charts - this song is about a teenage girl who finds out she has leukemia,
and her first true love supports her all the way and takes her to the prom (and shaves his head, too).
Me and My Gang, released in 2006, has proved to be Rascal Flatts' biggest success yet. In the first day alone,
Rascal Flatts sold 721,747 copies of Me and My Gang in one day!!!!! Only one other country artist is ahead of them;
Tim McGraw's 'Live Like You Were Dying' CD sold close to 747,000 copies in a day. Their second week as #1 in the country,
the CD was certified platinum. During the time of the release, the first single off of the CD, 'What Hurts the Most'
was at it's third week at #1. Their current single, the title track, 'Me and My Gang' is at #6 on the charts, and Rascal
Flatts' fastest moving single up the charts. With an average chart gain of two spots a week.
Much more is in store for this Trio . . . "This has been our dream since we were kids, we're not stopping now!" - Gary
LeVox <3
Their next CD is already in the works and is due sometime in 2007!!!!
